TAMPA — St. John Greek Orthodox Church’s Parish Council has canceled the 2024 Tampa Greek Festival, citing damage from the most recent hurricane.

"We made this decision after finding Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc on our grounds, harming buildings and property that we traditionally use for our festival," the Council said in a prepared statement.

"Both our Kourmolis Center, also known as the Great Hall, and our business offices require extensive repairs. Thankfully, Hurricane Milton spared our chapel and its precious Byzantine architecture, murals, and glass windows."

The festival has taken place for more than four decades, with music, food, culture and religion.

Organizers said they hope the event can be held in 2025.

If you would like to support the church, checks may be mailed to 2418 W. Swann Ave. Tampa, Fl. 33609 or online at tampagreekfestival.com or at stjohntpa.org; ATTN: “2024/TGF Cancellation."
