TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — Organizers of the popular Holiday Lighted Boat Parade said Thursday that the event will not be held this year.
On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the city said: "It is with a heavy heart that Treasure Island announces the cancellation of this year’s Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. City officials made the decision based on safety and the continued recovery efforts in the city. Next year, the parade will sail again on Dec. 20."
The event was set to include visits by Santa and Mrs. Claus, entertainers, concessions and more.
Last year's event was postponed by weather but was eventually held.
The parade has been held for over 30 years, starting as a small, local event and growing into one of the more popular holiday events in the Bay area.
