TAMPA, Fla. — President-elect Donald Trump has tapped Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister to serve as the administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Chronister is another Florida Republican named to Trump’s administration. He has worked for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office since 1992 and became the top law enforcement officer in Hillsborough County 2017. He also worked closely with Trump's choice for attorney general, Pam Bondi.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social on Saturday evening, saying Chronister has "received countless commendations and awards for keeping his community SAFE."
Chronister responded on Facebook shortly after the announcement, saying:
"It is the honor of a lifetime to be nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve as the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, and I am deeply humbled by this opportunity to serve our nation."
