Police in Pennsylvania have arrested a person of interest in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, officials said today.

Police announced the teen is now charged with one felony count of escape from a juvenile detention facility in addition to his previous charges.

Bartow police officers and Polk Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting of a Polk County couple during the weekend, allegedly by their son.

6. EPA bans cancer-causing solvents commonly used in cleaners, adhesives
A pair of widely used chemical solvents will be banned under a new rule the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today. Trichloroethylene, more commonly known as TCE, and perchloroethylene, known as PCE, are known to cause multiple types of cancer and other illnesses.

  • TRAFFIC NOTES | All southbound lanes on North 34th Street in Tampa will be closed between 7th and 5th avenues so city crews can repair a water main break. Work is expected to be complete by Thursday. Crews are also repairing a break on Dale Mabry. Those repairs have closed the outside southbound lane between MLK and West Alva Street.   • BOLTS CONTINUE ROAD TRIP | The Tampa Bay Lightning, coming off a 4-2 win yesterday at the Vancouver Canucks, continue a four-game road swing tomorrow night when they take on the Edmonton Oilers. The Bolts are 14-9-2 (30 points), and the Oilers are 15-10-2 (32 points). Puck drop is set for 9 p.m. tomorrow.

  • OPERATION SANTA TOY DONATIONS | Operation Santa Toy Dropoff at Muma Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital is accepting unwrapped toy donations on Dec. 10 and 11. New books, educational and developmental toys, pajamas, legos, games, puzzles, coloring and activity books will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

New branding unveiled for Tampa’s seven downtown neighborhoods

The Tampa Downtown Partnership is always exploring ways to unite the seven neighborhoods it serves, while also ensuring each retains a distinct identity.

Each neighborhood’s unique characteristics are now being represented through specific branding. An installation team is currently adding new signage to bike racks, trash cans, planters, and light pole banners.
