TAMPA, Fla. — This week’s A+ Teacher fell in love with music at a young age.
Now she’s sharing that passion with students at Mabry Elementary School. Alyssa Entenza has been a teacher for three years. She teaches music at the school.
“It makes me just really excited and joyful because I feel like that’s my goal is to get them excited. So if I see them smile, I know I’ve done my job,” said Entenza.

Entenza says she started playing the violin in first grade. Music has always been a part of her life.
“My dad is a veteran music teacher. He teaches elementary music teaching for 25 years. My brother is a cellist he’s actually studying at The Juilliard School of music in New York and then my mom is a soprano singer, so music was inescapable in my house,” said Entenza.
Her students learn how to play instruments, sing, read and write music.
“The kids are exposed to lots of different things in the hopes of making them a well-rounded musician,” said Entenza.
She also leads three after school programs so her students can practice their skills outside of the classroom and then perform for the community.
“That’s the ultimate goal really is to have the kids have a love and appreciation for music. Because music is everywhere,” Entenza.
