TAMPA, Fla. — Crashes in both directions on the Howard Frankland Bridge caused significant delays Friday morning.

Traffic lanes have mostly reopened in both directions after crashes halted traffic around 7 a.m. Both crashes were near the humps in the northbound and southbound lanes.

The southbound lanes reopened all lanes just before 11 a.m. Northbound lanes have two lanes open.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the northbound crash is a fatality invovling a motorcyclist that struck a Road Ranger's truck.

A short time after that crash, a separate crash happened in the southbound lanes. That crash involved four vehicles. Injuries in that crash were non-life threatening.

Delays have been building as both crashes are being cleared and investigated.

Drivers are advised to use other bridges for the time being.
