TAMPA, Fla. — They are from different cities, and they went to college at different times.
But they are all members of Kappa Alpha Psi.
What You Need To Know
- The Stompdown at the Straz Center
- It is set for Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
- 1010 N. Macinnes Place, Tampa
“We are all drawn together here now in Florida, just kind of flowing with it,” said Eddie Lovett.
Lovett and the step team are four of the more than 250,000 members of the historically African American fraternity.
The Stompdown is a chance to showcase their percussive art to a wider audience.
“These types of engagements bring the community together,” said Lovett.
These college alumni teams represent the young elders of stepping.
And they are committed to their fitness with a local running group so they won’t lose a step.
“So you know it helps — helps gets us in shape and gets us ready for it,” said Lovett
And with a few stomps, claps and taps, they continue to share their passion together — for life.
The Stompdown event will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Straz Center.
