One Gasparilla Krewe headquartered in Brandon named themselves for the water they protect — Sea Save Yours.
“Welcome to the float of the Sea Save Yours. We call it the Kraken. And everything here is made out of recycled material,” said Bill Collins, Krewe Captain of Sea Save Yours.
Collins says the community answered the call of their trash Kraken.
“It was amazing how many contractors were willing to. ‘Hey, we’re tearing a house down on Davis Islands and they got this fantastic deck out back. You guys got six hours to tear out as much as you want.'”
The krewe of Sea Save Yours will be float number 42 in the Gasparilla parade. They are one of more than 140 different parade entries.
