ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As storm recovery continues across the Bay area, the city of St. Peterburg has announced an update of recovery-related events, including the start of repairs on Tropicana Field.
The city is responsible for repairs as part of the residency deal with the Tampa Bay Rays.

City officials said repair work also is happening at Al Lang Stadium and that the facility should be ready for the Rowdies home-opening game on April 12.
Also, the city has issued more than 6,500 repair work permits to St. Pete residents for storm-related repairs. In doing so, about $1 million in permitting fees has been waived, city officials said.
The building permit fee waiver has been extended to June 30 to further assist residents.
Meanwhile, the city has hired additional permit reviewers and extended working days to include Saturday.
Housing code officials are monitoring homes in and out of flood hazard areas for compliance with FEMA regulations. Officials said the department’s goal is to assist residents in meeting requirements, protecting both homeowners and the city’s flood insurance discount.
