Scott and Lee encouraged their supporters to vote. While Scott is running for re-election for his Senate seat, he’s also running to be the next Senate GOP Leader. Current Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has said he will be leaving the post in November.

A new biography of McConnell by Associated Press Deputy Washington Bureau Chief Michael Tackett called “The Price of Power” reports McConnell blasted Scott for the way he ran the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee back in 2022, when Democrats kept control of the Senate. McConnell also hit on Scott’s plan to “Rescue America.”

Scott ran against McConnell for the Senate GOP leadership role two years ago, but lost. Scott responded to criticisms in the book from McConnell to reporters Friday.

“He doesn't like that I ran against him. It's as simple as that,” Scott said. “We have to elect somebody that's going to start saying, ‘We're going to balance a budget, we're going to secure the border, we're going to stop this inflation."

Scott's campaign also hit against Hillary Clinton’s upcoming visit to Tampa Saturday. A spokesperson said in a statement: “Senator Rick Scott and Donald Trump are working their butts off to ensure that, like Hillary, Kamala Harris gets nowhere near the presidency and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell gets nowhere near the Senate."

Hillary Clinton narrowly lost the state of Florida when she ran for the presidency in 2016.
