The Tampa Bay Lightning have hired veteran play-by-play announcer Dave Randorf as the voice of the team, the club and FOX Sports Sun announced Thursday.
Randorf will replace longtime play-by-play man Rick Peckham and brings more than 30 years of broadcasting experience to the Lightning family. He will join the FOX Sports Sun broadcasting crew with NHL broadcasting veterans Brian Engblom, Paul Kennedy, Dave Andreychuk, Bobby Taylor and Adam Hall.
Randorf, 53, has been broadcasting NHL games for Rogers Sportsnet for the past six years, serving as the play-by-play commentator for Sportsnet’s national telecasts for Hockey Night in Canada, Wednesday Night Hockey, Rogers Hometown Hockey and the Stanley Cup Playoffs. During the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Randorf served as the play-by-play announcer for the Western Conference Final for Sportsnet. He also announced the 2015 and 2016 NHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition for Sportsnet.
“We are excited to add Dave to our broadcast team and organization,” Lightning CEO Steve Griggs said. “Dave has proven over the years of his broadcasting career to improve the viewing experience of hockey games on television to millions of fans. We are thrilled to have Dave join our FOX Sports Sun broadcast team and continue Rick Peckham’s legacy of exciting our fans with legendry calls of Lightning hockey.”
Randorf is joining the Lightning just weeks after the team won the 2020 Stanley Cup.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining this first-class organization,” Randorf said. “Following in the footsteps of Hall of Fame announcer Rick Peckham is an honor and a responsibility I do not take lightly. I can’t wait for the puck to drop and to begin getting to know Lightning fans throughout the community of Tampa Bay. "
