Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik has announced plans to sell shares of the team, but just a minority portion.

Vinik, who bought the team for a reported $170 million in 2010, released this statement saying in part:

“If a minority sale is finalized, I will maintain control of Vinik Sports Group and nothing will change with respect to the daily operations and objectives of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“If and when a transaction is complete, I will comment further at that time.”

That minority partner has not been named.
