BARTOW, FL - Whenever Madison Holland is on a cheer mat she goes all out.
“We’re Bartow and it’s a standard,” said Holland.
Madison is all about the Bartow standard. Her high marks in the classroom and pursuit of excellence in cheer are on full display every day.
“Her academics have always come first since I met her,” said Bartow coed cheer head coach Lori Jolliff. “She is a strong gymnast and she is a beautiful top girl and she’s an amazing leader.”
“True definition of a student-athlete,” said assistant coach Ronzail Walker, who is also a Bartow cheer alum. “Takes care of her grades, can go wherever she wants for school. So, that’s what I think about Madison – she is an all-around athlete.”
“I enjoy school and I enjoy getting an education so when I come in it’s also a second of relief that I can take a minute to do what I love and so whenever I’m in here it’s keeps me going to finish the rest of the day,” said Holland.
The senior is enjoying her last bit of time with her cheer squad. They recently capped off their season with the program’s ninth state championship and fifth national title.
“We were just ecstatic to have even done as good as we did. It was happy, I guess. It was pure joy,” said Holland.
Madison Holland has been part of some big moments in Bartow cheer history. She knows it’s now up to the next group to continue to reach that high bar of success.
“I can’t wait to come back and see, in four years, ten years, what the underclassmen and the future of Bartow cheer is going to hold,” said the senior.
