TAMPA, Fla. — Her Name is as unique as her swimming style.
In her first ever State meet, Brinkleigh Hansen made sure they wouldn’t forget her name winning three gold medals, two individual and one relay.
The Green Devils Freshman swam the 200 Free winning gold in both, and got to compete alongside her sister to win another in the relay.
Her older sister Karrington, a junior at St.Pete has already committed to the University of Kentucky, and winning gold with her and being able to swim with her everyday makes it extra special.
"I was always inspired by my sister from the past two years", Brinkleigh said at a recent St.Pete Aquatics practice.
At 14 years old Brinkleigh has already established herself as the number one swimmer in the country in the 200 and 500 free in her age group. In September she represented the United States in Italy winning a 5k open water swim against girls her age from all over the world.
" It definitely boosted my confidence", The Green Devils freshman acknowledged, "where I am like, I can do this, it definitely helped out but just honestly keeping a clear mind always helps".
Born into a swimming family, from mom and dad in college to all four kids who swim competively, the secret to her success is simple.
"Just having fun. Just having fun and smiling is how your going to do your best".
She’s hoping that motto carries her all the way to her goal of swimming in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
