TAMPA, Fla. — The Metropolitan Ministries will be pushing out tons of food for those in need on Thanksgiving Day.
- Thousands of pounds of food cooked, prepared
- Check out the our Thanksgiving Guide
The food turned out includes:
- 1,500 pounds of turkey
- 1,200 pounds of mashed potatoes
- 1,200 pounds of vegetables
- 1,200 pounds of stuffing
- 1,000 pies
The head of food services for Tampa's Metropolitan Ministries Luis Soto says the food preparation for the Thanksgiving meal started a week ago.
"It's a lot of time. From getting all the turkeys in. Cooking the turkeys. Carving the turkeys. The mashed potatoes, the gravy. It takes a lot of help," says Soto.
Between all of Metropolitan Ministries' partner sites, they will serve 6,000 people on Thursday.
And hundreds of volunteers have worked hard to make this happen, as all of them were sacrificing time away from their families to help those in need.
