ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disney California Adventure will reopen for a special, limited-time event featuring food, beverage, and merchandise inside the theme park.
Disneyland President Ken Potrock sent out a letter to cast members (Disney's term for employees) on Monday, asking to bring back 1,000 members to staff a special, limited-time, hard-ticket event at California Adventure, a Disneyland spokesman said.
Rides at the park will be prohibited, and Disneyland will also remain closed.
The details of the offering are unclear. Disney officials did not provide a name for the event, nor price, how many tickets would be available, nor what kind of food and beverage would be offered.
A Disneyland spokesman said more details are coming soon to the Disney Parks blog website.
The news comes on the 20th anniversary of Disney California Adventure. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have remained closed due to the state's orders as part of an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Though most theme parks in the state have remained closed, some theme park operators have found ways to work around it.
Knott's Berry Farm, Legoland, and Sea World have hosted a series of outdoor food festivals since the pandemic began.
While Disney's two Anaheim theme parks have remained closed, its Downtown Disney retail and restaurant strip remain open and extended into Disney California Adventure's Buena Vista Street.
EDITOR'S NOTE: A clarification on an earlier version of this story confirms that Potrock's letter was sent to Disney cast members, rather than union leaders. (February 8, 2021)
