BRADENTON, Fla. — A driver is in serious condition and a 74-year-old man suffered minor injuries after a car came off U.S. 301 and smashed into a house on Friday morning.

At around 8:48 a.m., 49-year-old Jonathan Scott Perry was driving a 2019 Honda 4-door car on the southbound U.S. 301 when it veered off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a home at Highway Shores Mobile Home Park, according to a news release by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Perry, from Bradenton, suffered serious injuries after the Civic crashed into the side of the manufactured home, where there were two people home at the time, stated the FHP.

Perry was sent to the Lakewood Ranch Hospital.

Frank Perrone, a 74-year-old Bradenton resident, was in the home at the time of the crash and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

The FHP did not release information about the other person in the home.

The FHP stated that Perry was wearing a seatbelt and that he was not under the influence of alcohol.

The case is ongoing, stated the FHP.
