We are enjoying sunshine and warm weather as we head into the weekend.

What You Need To Know

  • February started cold and rainy

  • The month ends with warm and dry weather

  • We had severe weather and above-average rainfall in some locations

The end of February is very different from how we began this month.

On February 1, a cold front moved through the area, and we picked up nearly an inch of rain in Tampa. It was windy all day, and the high temperature of 68 degrees was just after midnight. Temperatures dropped all afternoon.

We were bundling up on February 2 with high temperatures in the 50s.

Yes, we’ve had many nice days this month, but we’ve also had several strong cold fronts in between.

On February 7, heavy rain and thunderstorms moved across the region. Thankfully, we dried out before the Super Bowl, and we had clear skies for the game.

Our Tampa camera showed the fireworks at Raymond James Stadium as we cheered on our Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl win!

What followed was more nice weather until the weekend of Valentine’s Day.

A tornado with winds of 75 mph caused damage to some neighborhoods in Pinellas County.

A couple more cold fronts brought us some rain the following week.

Most of this week has been sunny and dry, and there is no significant rain chance this weekend. But, thanks to the active weather earlier this month, Tampa has above-normal rainfall.
