The new year and month started warmer than normal but ended with a few weeks of cooler than normal temperatures. 

Many experienced their coldest weather in four years with many locations having a freeze on Jan. 29.

The coldest temperature in our area was 18 in Lecanto that Sunday morning.

The last time Tampa (TPA Airport) experienced a freeze was Jan. 18, 2018 with 29 degrees, and that record still stands.

Although, many locations around the metro area experienced a freeze with this last late-January cold snap.

The pattern of dry weather continued into 2022, as well. Little rain fell for most of the month.

Even though it is the dry season, all locations were below the 30-year average for the month. Some spots had less than an inch of rain, and Bradenton had less than a half for the month!
