While November started out very mild to warm, the middle of the month saw a dramatic drop in temperatures. So where do the average temperatures stand now? We’ll dive into the numbers.

What You Need To Know

  • It was a warm start to the month with 60s and 70s

  • Temperatures were then below average mid-month

  • Closer to average this week

  • Overall, temperatures average out to near normal

Do you remember wearing t-shirts and even shorts at the beginning of the month? It’s a distant memory by now, but temperatures were very mild at the beginning of November. Highs topped out in the 60s and 70s. Some areas even hit the lower 80s for a couple of days.

Louisville had several days in the middle 70s to start out November. In fact, the first 11 days were the secondwarmest start to a November on record. Thanks to the colder days as of late, the average temperature is now 0.7 degrees below normal.

However, by the middle of the month, the pattern changed big time. The jet stream dived well to the south, allowing arctic air to flood into the eastern half of the country. Highs only ended up in the 30s and 40s.

Lexington so far has seen 12 days above average, with 10 days below average. With the ups and downs, the average temperature is near normal, with the highs and lows averaging out 0.2 degrees above normal.

The average highs are in the low-60s to start the month and drop into the 50s in the middle of the month. Temperatures for the rest of the week will be warmer than average, so the month will probably be above normal when all is said and done.
