This July was the warmest month ever recorded in Tampa, reaching 2.7 degrees above normal.
Tampa saw an average high temperature of 93.3 degrees and an average low of 79.7 degrees for the month.
No day was excessively above average (by more than 5 degrees), but we saw many days where temperatures were 2 to 4 degrees above average.
The coolest temperature recorded this month was 76 degrees, while the warmest was 97.
One reason this month was so hot was the lack of rainfall.
Summer storms typically cool us down in the afternoons here in Florida, but the coverage of these storms favored more inland areas.
It was also Bradenton's hottest month on record and Brooksville's hottest July on record.
Tampa, Bradenton and St. Petersburg all saw well below normal rainfall for the month. In fact, it was Bradenton's driest July on record with 1.10 inches.
This is also the driest Bradenton has been for the first 7 months of the year since records began.
Brooksville was near normal with 9.21 inches of rain. Plant City was above normal with over 11 inches. Lakeland was a little below normal with 7.16 inches.
