TAMPA, Fla. — Adventure Island has set the opening date for two attractions.

​Rapids Racer and Wahoo Remix will officially open at the water park on May 7. The park will hold pass member previews for both attractions April 30-May 1. 

The first attraction, Rapids Racer, is a brand new dueling water slide that will have riders board a two-person raft as they race through nearly 600 feet of slide. It will feature the what the park is calling the world’s first dueling saucers.

Wahoo Remix, formerly the park’s Wahoo Run attraction, has been updated with synchronized lights and music. The slides enclosed tunnels will now glow as riders make their way through.

“With the addition of these two new slides, plus several park-wide enhancements, Adventure Island is truly a can’t miss destination for family fun in the sun,” Busch Gardens and Adventure Island president Neal Thurman said in a statement.

The opening of the two attractions comes as Adventure Island undergoes one of the largest transformations in its 40-year history. Other enhancements include a new front gate, freshly-painted areas, a new tropical oasis area with hammocks and lounge seating, and a new photo op near its Endless Surf pool.
