TAMPA, Fla. — You may not know it, but Tampa is celebrating a very special holiday this week, and you still have time to get in on the celebration.

What You Need To Know

  • Posting photos of the wharf will go to a good cause

  • A social media campaign ends Sunday at 5 p.m.

We’ve know 813 as Tampa’s area code for the last 67 years, so now, we celebrate the city during the week of August 13th.

Anyone who takes a picture with the Tampa sign in Sparkman Wharf and posts it to social media is helping out a great cause.

“For every photo, a donation of $5 is going right to Metropolitan Ministries, it stays right here in Tampa Bay, 3,000 meals every day from our kitchen in downtown Tampa, and over a million meals since the pandemic started. So it’s definitely needed and we are so happy for this support,” said Billy Somerville with Metropolitan Ministries.

Make sure to post your photo to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, with the geotag Sparkman Wharf, and #813Day and #SparkmanWharf— for your donation to count!
