1. Settlement reached in lawsuit between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis allies and Disney
Allies of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Disney reached a settlement agreement Wednesday in a lawsuit over who controls Walt Disney World’s governing district.

2. Biden admin. pledges to rebuild Baltimore bridge as search for missing workers continues
As the search continues for six workers who are missing and presumed dead in the aftermath of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore on Tuesday, the Biden administration has pledged that the federal government will help the city rebuild.

3. 18-year-old hit, killed by vehicle leaving crash scene, FHP says; suspect in custody
An 18-year-old high school student was hit and killed by a vehicle Wednesday morning by a driver who fled the scene of a separate crash, according to authorities. The 41-year-old suspect in the case was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.

4. Trump assails judge and his daughter after gag order in New York hush-money criminal case
The former president posted on social media that the gag order was “illegal, un-American, unConstitutional” and said Judge Juan M. Merchan was “wrongfully attempting to deprive me of my First Amendment Right to speak out against the Weaponization of Law Enforcement" by Democratic rivals.

5. Health insurance companies pledge to expand access to navigation for cancer patients as Jill Biden convenes roundtable
First Lady Jill Biden on Wednesday convened executives from top health insurance companies and other related organizations at the White House to discuss new commitments to expand access to navigation services for cancer patients. 

6. Poll: In shift, majority of Americans disapprove of Israeli action in Gaza
Just 36% of U.S. adults surveyed this month said they back Israel’s actions in Gaza, while 55% disapprove. Four months ago, 50% of Americans supported Israel’s actions and 45% did not. Nine percent said this month they have no opinion.

7. Florida Politics: Jimmy Patronis joins letter urging IRS to shut down Direct File program
Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and the top financial officers of 20 other states wrote to federal officials asking them to shut down a pilot program allowing citizens to file their tax returns directly with the government.

Your Notes for Tonight and Tomorrow

  • BOLTS TAKE ON RIVAL BOLTS: The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Atlantic rival Boston Bruins tonight at Amalie Arena. The Bruins, with 99 points, lead the division. The Bolts, with 85, are fourth, and they have won six of their last seven contests. The puck drops tonight at 7 p.m.
  • TRAFFIC ALERT: The outside westbound lane and the outside eastbound lane on West Azeele Street is closed between South Himes Avenue and South Sterling Avenue as the Tampa Water Department performs maintenance on the water distribution system. There will be barricades and signs in the area to help reroute traffic. All lanes will reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. each day and then close again the following morning at 9 a.m. to continue the work. The work is expected to be completed with a return to normal traffic patterns by Friday at 5 p.m., weather permitting. The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.
