Florida's 15th District State Senator Geraldine Thompson was inspired to run for office by her desire to bring a different perspective to the legislature and stand up for those who are underrepresented. The biggest lesson she has learned in office is that change happens incrementally, not overnight--making change requires persistence.

Thompson is proud of her community for running the New Image program, an initiative that supports low-income students by providing after-school tutoring and travel opportunities.

Because Thompson loves problem-solving, her ideal day would be spent helping her constituents. Her favorite movie is Trading Places.
