TAMPA, Fla. — Organizers with Toys for Tots are reminding people they must show proof of eligibility before they can receive toys for the holidays.

Toys for Tots is distributing gifts today from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at an old Winn-Dixie at 2525 North Dale Mabry in Tampa.

Organizers say no children are allowed at the gift distribution. If you bring your child, they say you will be denied assistance.

Organizers say you must show an electric or printed confirmation. If you have not registered, received a confirmation, or verified your registration, you must bring your child's birth certificate and proof of eligibilty—food stamp letter, Medicaid letter, WIC letter, free school-lunch letter—along with proof of your address, and a valid ID. Medicaid cards and food stamp EBT cards will not be accepted. They say it must be an eligibility letter.

Unfortunately, if they can't verify your information, you will not receive toys.

Organizers say toys will be distributed based on availability. Once an age group is gone, they will not be able to assist anyone from the age group further.

Toys for Tots is for ages 0-12 and toys will be randomly chosen from the supply, organizers say.
