ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The roar of race cars will not go on after all this weekend in downtown St. Petersburg.

After announcing on Thursday the annual Indy Car race would go in downtown St. Petersburg without fans, it was announced Friday the race would be canceled altogether.
The announcement came down as drivers were in cars making practice runs.
The move is just one of a series of announcements Thursday in the sports world as a result of attempted to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The NCAA has canceled the men's and women's basketball tournaments and multiple pro sports leagues are suspending their seasons.
