It said one option will be "returning to campus and interacting in person with teachers and classmates, but with various health and safety protocols in place."
The other option would be for students to take online lessons through Polk Virtual School.
"Polk Virtual will receive full funding," said Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd during a task force meeting. "That is one of the things I'd rather us push for, Polk Virtual, and we're going to make sure we can get some of our employees on that side to help our students."
At the task force meeting, district officials said they're looking into buying desk dividers, coming up with rules for face coverings, and developing protocols to deal with possible COVID-19 outbreaks.
They said reopening won't be a "one size fits all" approach.
"For some students it might be easy. For other students, we're going to really have to individualize their approach," said Michelle Townley, Acting Chief Academic Officer.

Plan light on details?
However, Polk County Education Association President Stephanie Yocum, who sits on the task force, calls the reopening announcement "rushed."
She said no specific details had been discussed in the task force meetings.
"Many details must be hammered out as we move forward in opening schools," Yocum said in a written statement to Spectrum Bay News 9. "All safety measures and protocols must have been explored, discussed, and ultimately bargained, so everyone is as protected as possible."
Polk County Schools also released the results of an online survey conducted with parents, staff, and community members responding.
Thirty eight percent said they supported reopening classes in August, while 34 percent said they don't want to see students on campus at all in the fall.
The remainder said they'd like to see an opening after Labor Day in September or they didn't have an opinion.
