TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Bay Tech High School athletic coach has been arrested and charged with sex with a minor. 

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Reginald Lawrence, 48, was arrested Tuesday on six counts of unlawful sex with a minor, a first-degree felony. Lawrence has been the girls basketball coach at Tampa Bay Tech.

Deputies said Lawrence engaged in sexual relations in 2016 with the victim during six different occasions at his home. The victim was a student at Tampa Bay Tech and has since graduated. 

In addition to being the girl's basketball coach, Lawrence is listed as a Student Success Coach on Tampa Bay Tech's guidance staff page on the school's website. 

Two years ago, Lawrence led the Tampa Bay Tech girls basketball team to the state championship.

The sheriff's office is asking if anyone has information or was potentially another victim of Lawrence, to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200. 

"Students trusted this man as their coach, and as a parent myself, I am absolutely disgusted," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Nobody should ever have their childhood ripped from them as this young victim did. After years of suffering, I applaud the victim for coming forward so this man could face the consequences for his despicable actions."
