MADISON COUNTY, Fla. —  The Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement says a 5-year-old girl from Madison County has been found safe, and the Amber Alert has been canceled.

Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office were searching for Naomi Rose Herring Monday morning. 

Deputies were sent at approximately 1:59 a.m. on Monday to the Deerwood Inn near the I-10 interchange of South State Road 53, where the chid was reported missing.

Deputies say the mother returned to the room at 1:40 a.m. and found the door shut but unlocked. 

Naomi was not inside.

Details on how the child was found have not been released.
