TAMPA, Fla. – A pregnant woman and her child died Saturday after a domestic violence dispute in Tampa, according to police.

Police responded to the 2200 block of E Emma Street at about 3:30 a.m. The woman, who was six months pregnant, was found with life-threatening injuries.
The woman was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she died from her injuries, police said. Staff at the hospital delivered the baby who died shortly after, according to police.
Police said the investigation led them to Jay Leonard Rodriguez, who they said attacked the woman in her residence. Rodriguez was later arrested at his home. He faces two counts of second-degree murder and a charge of violating his probation.
