NORTH PORT, Fla. — The search for Brian Laundrie at the Carlton Reserve continues Thursday with Brian's dad Chris assisting in the search, according to the family attorney Steven Bertolino.

Bertolino sent a statement to Spectrum Bay News 9 that reads, "Chris Laundrie is assisting law enforcement today in the search for Brian. Chris was asked to point out any favorite trails or spots that Brian may have used in the preserve. Although Chris and Roberta Laundrie provided this information verbally three weeks ago, it is now thought that on-site assistance may be better. The preserve has been closed to the public and the Laundries, as well, but the parents, have been cooperating since the search began."

Wednesday's search at the reserve saw more law enforcement activity than in recent days.

What You Need To Know

Search efforts have been scaled back, but the FBI is still looking for Laundrie throughout the more than 24,000-acre reserve.

New information came out yesterday about the timeline of Laundrie's disappearance. Bertolino said his parents now believe he left for the hike on Monday, September 13, not on the 14th as they initially reported.

Bertolino also said Chris was asked to help law enforcement look for him at the reserve yesterday, however, Chris' involvement was postponed.

Bertolino sent a statement to Spectrum Bay News 9 that reads, "since the preserve has been closed to the public, Chris has not been able to look for Brian in the only place Chris and Roberta believe Brian may be. They are hopeful there will be another opportunity to assist."

Bay News 9 reached out to North Port Police about the postponement. Public Information Officer Josh Taylor said, "The FBI is the lead. The NPPD would not be making these decisions and actions. The FBI would have to answer if that was true."
