HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released more on the case, including charges filed.
The office said Kami George (Terry Reed's biological mother), and Matthew Leighton (George's boyfriend) were arrested and each charged with aggravated battery with a deadly deapon, armed kidnapping and interference with custody.
In a news release, authorities said: "The couple showed up at Terry's daycare facility on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, while his foster parent was picking him up. Leighton held Terry's foster parent at knifepoint while George removed him from the victim's car. Leighton and George fled with Terry, injuring the foster parent with their car's door in the process."
The trio was located by law enforcement officials in Taylor County several hours later, the news release said.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

TUESDAY NIGHT UPDATE: The Tampa Police Department has cancelled the Amber Alert for 4-year-old Terry Reed. He has been found and is safe. Kami George, Matthew Leighton were located in Taylor County Wednesday night. George and Leighton have been detained and could face charges and the investigation continues.

An Amber Alert has been issued in Hillsborough County for a missing boy.
Terry Reed is 4 years and 8 months old. He was last seen near 4100 North MacDill Avenue in Tampa wearing a blue pullover shirt, blue sweatpants and grey shoes. The alert says he is believed to be around 3 feet and 1 inch tall, weighing 39 pounds. He has blonde hair and brown eyes.
Authorities say he "may be in the company of Kami George and Matthew Leighton."
The alert also says the pair may be driving a 2010 red Toyota Camry with damage on the passenger side door and the Florida tag number LBEZ01.
