HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A 57-year-old man was killed early Monday when his vehicle crashed on a Spring Hill road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened when the driver lost control of his Kia sedan while speeding on Mariner Boulevard while approaching Elgin Boulevard.
Troopers said the vehicle crossed the opposite lanes, went onto the shoulder of the road and collided with a light pole and traffic control box.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene. The crash closed the intersection for several hours.
There were no other injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
