He was previously identified as a person of interest in this case. St. Pete police said he is currently being held in the Hillsborough County jail on unrelated charges.

Police said Carnegie shot and killed 60-year-old Vernon Williams on April 10 on 17th Avenue South and 24-year-old Corlenzo Williams, no relation to the other victim, two days later in the 900 block of Melrose Avenue South.

Both murders happened in the overnight hours at locations about two miles apart in South St. Pete. A third person was approached, but that person saw the man had a gun and took off running.

Carnegie is being held in the Hillsborough County jail.

St Pete police say he will remain there until the completion of the extradition process.
