HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla — I-75 southbound has reopened Thursday afternoon after being shut down for several hours due to a fatal crash.

The deadly multi-vehicle crash occurred along I-75 southbound at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at 8:24 a.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Officials said that an SUV lost control and collided with a flatbed tractor along the inside lanes of the highway.

Both vehicles were redirected to the right side of the highway and collided with a sedan and another SUV, and the two SUVs then rotated to the median, according to FHP.

FHP said the sedan and flatbed tractor trailer continued traveling to the right shoulder and collided with two commercial vehicles transporting mobile homes that were stopped along the outside shoulder and merge lane leading from Bruce B. Downs.

One of the drivers who was struck was a 26-year-old male from Shreve, Ohio, who was standing outside of one of the mobile home transport commercial vehicles, resulting in fatal injuries, officials said.

FHP said several of the people in the vehicles involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
