TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers search for an offensive coordinator has come to an end.

The Bucs are set to hire Seattle quarterbacks coach Dave Canales as its new offensive coordinator.

Canales, 41, who helped Geno Smith have a strong comeback year this season in Seattle, takes over the Bucs offense after the team part ways with Byron Leftwich after four seasons.

Tampa Bay’s season ended with a wildcard round playoff loss to Dallas. The Bucs finished 8-10 but still won the NFC South Division despite its offensive struggles throughout the season.

Now, Canales takes over a Bucs offense that will be without the retired Tom Brady and has only one quarterback o the roster, Kyle Trask.

The Bucs interviewed 10 candidates for the position during the last month before deciding on Canales.

Prior to working for the Seahawks, Canales served as an assistant strength coach for USC in 2009 and as a special teams/tight ends coach for El Camino College from 2006-2008.

Canales played wide receiver at Azusa Pacific University in California before starting his college coaching career.
