Investigators say a 14-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man died in the gunfire, which broke out after several individuals engaged in arguments on 7th Avenue just before 3 a.m.
Tyrell Phillips, 22, was arrested and charged in the shooting. He was being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail. Based on the current evidence collected, detectives believe there are two additional individuals who appear to have fired several gunshots during the incident.
“We are truly grateful for the support of our community and all the tips they have provided investigators so far,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said. “We have partnered with the FBI to launch this website to make submitting additional tips easier.
“We encourage anyone who may have information to go to fbi.gov/tampashooting and submit any photos or videos that could aid in the investigation. Even if you are not sure if the tip will be helpful, it may be just the evidence our detectives need.”
Detectives continue to urge anyone who was in the area near the time of the shooting on Sunday, Oct. 29, to review any video or photos they may have taken that morning and submit them through the new website portal so investigators can review them.
