You can find hemp shops all over the Bay area that provide a lot of different products, from gummies to infused drinks. As for marijuana, its only legal use is as prescribed by a doctor. However, the full legalization of marijuana could be on the ballot for 2024.
For some, trying to figure out the difference between hemp and marijuana can be confusing because it nearly looks, smells, and tastes the same.
Spectrum News visited the Dunedin Hemp Company, a mom and pop store founded by Seth Taylor in 2019, to learn more.
“We have a lot of regulars and a lot of loyal customers,” Taylor said.
It’s a small shop but provides a wide variety of hemp products. Taylor said all of them comply with state law.
“You don’t need a medical card here. Everything we source is lab tested for quality and we put a lot of thought and care from where we source our products from,” Taylor said.
Legal hemp has under .3 percent THC concentration, which is far less than marijuana, and Taylor said that the two create different effects.
Taylor said he supports the legalization of marijuana and isn’t worried that it will affect his business in the future. He said the more options, the better.
