TAMPA, Fla. — Federal law enforcement has arrested the husband of a Tampa Bay City Council member in connection to his alleged involvement with computer hacks at Fox News.

Tim Burke, a media consultant in Tampa, made his first appearance in court Thursday afternoon.

He faces 14 charges including conspiracy, accessing a protected computer and intercepting communications, according to court documents obtained by Spectrum News.

Burke is the husband of of Councilwoman Lynn Hurtak. His company, Burke Communications, produces video content.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation last year searched his home and seized electronic devices.

Burke is accused of hacking into computers at Fox News.

Hurtak released a statement that said: “I am confident in my husband’s innocence, and I support him completely. I will not be making additional statements regarding this matter.”
