A hurricane awareness event will be held Wednesday in Indian Shores, with Spectrum Bay News 9 Meteorologist Brian McClure serving as speaker.
It will take place at 4 p.m. at the 4th Floor Community Center, located at 19305 Gulf Boulevard.
The event will focus on hurricane safety, as hurricane season starts June 1.
Most predictions are calling for above-normal tropical activity this year fueled by exceptionally warm ocean waters and an expected shift from El Nio to La Nia. It is crucial for residents to be prepared as hurricane season in Florida goes through the end of November.
