POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A sinkhole has opened in the front yard of a home just south of Lakeland.
The sinkhole, found next to the drive way of the Highland City home on Royal Crest Drive appears to be near where a previous hole opened in January.
Emergency crews, which responded to the site on Thursday, said the hole is 10 to 12 feet wide and about 20 feet deep.
Officials are working to determine if the hole is growing or not and what the next step should be.
In January, crews used a mixture of clay and sand to fill in that hole, which was about 60 feet deep and 20 feet wide.
