TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The president and CEO of Visit Florida on Tuesday announced her retirement after six years in the role.
Dana Young was the longest-serving agency head in the Gov. Ron DeSantis administration. According to a news release, she will remain in her role until a new president and CEO is in place.
The release stated that Florida tourism had 140.6 million visitors in 2023, driving a $127.7 billion economic impact. Visitation rose 7.3% during her tenure.
“I am so grateful to Governor DeSantis for the opportunity to lead Visit Florida for the past six years,” Young said. I am very proud of the work we have done (and will continue to do) at Visit Florida, maximizing return on investment for Florida taxpayers. This has truly been the best job I have ever had, and I will miss my amazing team!”
Young previously served eight years in the Florida Legislature, representing the city of Tampa and parts of Hillsborough County.
“Dana Young’s leadership at Visit Florida has been transformative, ensuring Florida remains the top destination for travelers,” said J. Alex Kelly, Florida’s secretary of commerce.
“We are grateful for her years of service and wish her the best in her retirement.”
