GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of South Florida baseball team made more history Monday.

The Bulls (31-28) dvanced to its first super regional in program history by beating South Alabama 6-4 in the Gainesville Regional.

Advancing to its first-ever NCAA Super Regional, USF will play at Texas this weekend.

USF’s Jarrett Eaton was 3-for-3 with a home run and an RBI double in the win against South Alabama.

The Bulls had already pulled off an impressive post-season, winning four of five games (including beating rival UCF) to win the American Athletic Conference tournament championship.

USF also topped state foes No. 15 Florida and Miami in the NCAA Regionals before beating South Alabama to advance.

 "This is such a special group of guys,” said USF coach Billy Mohl. “And they'll forever be remembered as the team who got it done. But, as they'll tell you, they aren't done yet. They want to be the first team to get to Omaha, and we have the leadership in that clubhouse who believes in that."  

The Bulls will play at Texas, the no. 2 team in the nation, in a best-of-three series. The winner advances to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
