OLDSMAR, Fla. — With every swing of the bat, Aidan Miller shows raw power and elite exit velocity.
“It doesn’t feel like a grind or working at all, it’s just what I love to do and it’s a lot of fun,” Aidan Miller said.
He makes it look effortless, but it’s a result of hard work and dedication.
Miller trains at least six hours a day.
JW Mitchell High baseball head coach Howard Chittum says there’s nowhere else Miller wants to be.
“It’s all love for him, it’s not like you’re forcing him to do anything, he wants to be there,” Chittum said.
Right now, hes preparing for the next step in his career.
The graduating senior from JW Mitchell is an Arkansas commit, and was widely seen as a top-20 overall prospect in the MLB Draft.
“It’s definitely been a huge process, fun process, with my training as well, seeing how much it’s improved this year.” Miller said. “A lot of MLB guys come here and train at this facility in the offseason and just kind of pick at certain things from their routines and develop it into mine.”
Miller is an infielder with the kind of profile pro teams want.
He boasts a previous history of amateur success, where he won All-American game MVP last summer.
He led the Team USA 18-U national team in hitting during their 2022 World Cup gold medal run.
“It’s a win-win, positive-positive, because he’s got all the attributes to be a great player, it doesn’t matter which route he takes, ultimately, he’ll end up being a professional baseball player,” Chittum said.
Chittum says it’s only a matter of time before Miller makes it to the big leagues.
And when he does, he is certain hell make an impact.
“One of the best things about Aidan, he makes everybody around him including coaches and his teammates better,” Chittum said. “Whether it’s the kid who’s 20th on the depth chart on your team or the guy who’s first, he treats them the same.”
Although Miller missed the spring season due to a broken bone in his hand, he still was a big part of the Mustangs.
“Practice and games are different when he’s there, he just brings a different energy,” Chittum said.
“That’s the kind of person he is, he still showed up, to support his teammates and that meant a lot to them.”
Now, Miller is excited for the chance to prove himself at the next level, whether at Arkansas or playing pro.
“A team that takes a chance on me is going to get a winner, a guy who is going to perform in the spotlight in the biggest moments, a guy that everybody wants in the big situations,” Miller said.
Chittum says a talent like Miller is rare.
“He’s a generational talent, but he’s an even better human being, all his great accomplishments as a player comes from his great attitude and work ethic.”
Miller is excited for the chance to prove himself in Major League Baseball after getting drafted in the first round by the Phillies.
“It’s been something I’ve been working toward my whole life and to finally see it right in front if me is truly incredible and I can’t wait for it.”
