1. Mary O’Connor named new Tampa Chief of Police
O’Connor, 51, served the Tampa Police Department for 22 years, rising to the rank of assistant chief before retiring in 2016. Since then, Mary has spent time extensively traveling the country, teaching and providing subject matter expertise and training to law enforcement and criminal justice executives. She’s also served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
2. Redevelopment agency asks for input to help Clearwater businesses during construction project
With roughly a year left in the Cleveland Street and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard construction project, redevelopment agency officials are holding a public meeting to update residents on the progress and brainstorm ideas on how to help affected businesses.
3. Daytona Beach News-Journal: TSA confiscates record number of guns at airports nationally and in Florida
TSA agents in 2021 confiscated a record number of guns from passengers attempting to illegally bring them onto planes as carry-on items, both nationally as well as in Florida, including Daytona Beach International Airport.
4. Tom Brady feels good about retirement decision but "you never say never" on playing again
Speaking on his “Let’s Go” podcast, Brady said one of the big reasons for walking away from football was that he felt he was missing out on too much of other parts of his life.

A Polk County community threw a big surprise birthday party for a Bartow boy that was hit by a car in front of his home over the weekend.
6. Governor's surgeon general pick Ladapo continues confirmation process Tuesday
The confirmation process continues today for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ controversial appointee to be Florida’s surgeon general. Dr. Joseph Ladapo, who’s been serving in the role since September, is facing senators once again for his second confirmation hearing.
7. Localtopia offers collaboration, growth for small businesses
More than 300 small businesses are expected at Localtopia this weekend, and 30,000 people are expected to attend.
