1. Police: 1 dead, 2 injured after semi drives into Tampa strip club
Police say one person was killed and two others were injured early Tuesday after a man allegedly drove a semitruck into a strip club witnesses say he'd just been kicked out of.

2. Florida now counts 1 million more registered Republican voters than Democrats
Florida has 1 million more Republican registered voters than Democrats, elections officials revealed, further cementing its status as a conservative hotbed.

3. Hurricane Charley made landfall 20 years ago
Hurricane Charley made landfall in Florida on Aug. 13, 2004 as a Category 4 storm. It was responsible for nine deaths.

4. NHTSA warns drivers to stop using older Ford, Mazda cars over airbag issue
Owners of some older Ford and Mazda vehicles should not drive their cars until they replace their defective air bags, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tuesday. 

5. Experts say Harris, Trump efforts to end taxes on tips would be difficult to enact
Experts say that proposals from Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump to end federal taxes on workers' tips would be difficult and costly to the federal government to enact.

6. Infant formula sold at H-E-B, CVS recalled for high vitamin D levels
The formula was sold at CVS stores in Texas, Florida, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Missouri and H-E-B stores in Texas.

7. Bucs sell out season passes for 2024
The Bucs, who have won the NFC South crown the past three seasons and made four straight playoff appearances, open the regular season Sept. 8 at Raymond James Stadium at 4:25 p.m.

  • RAYS LOOK TO REBOUND: The Tampa Bay Rays take on the Houston Astros tonight in the second game of a three-game series at Tropicana Field. Tampa Bay's bats were silenced last night in a 6-1 loss in which the Rays had only four hits. Shane Baz will be on the mound tonight for the Rays, with first pitch at 6:50 p.m.
  • TAMPA ROAD CLOSURE: North Himes Avenue will be closed between West Sitka Street and Edna Court while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by Thursday, Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.

  • PASCO HEALTH ALERT: The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in Blanton Lake. Officials advise residents to not drink, swim, wade, use personal watercrafts, water skis or boats in waters where there is a visible bloom.
