1. Trump orders 'reciprocal' tariffs on trade partners across the globe, risking higher costs and trade wars
During his remarks, President Donald Trump held up a chart showing the reciprocal tariffs would be roughly half of the rate of tariffs he claims other countries levy on U.S. products, including 34% tariffs on imports from China and 20% tariffs on imports from the European Union. But the White House has offered few details, and it was unclear where the data on the chart came from.

2. Florida sales tax cut clears 1st legislative hurdle on path to passage
The Florida House on Wednesday took its first steps toward permanently reducing the state’s sales tax. The House Ways and Means Committee advanced the bill unanimously.

3. Flooded Forest Hills residents in Tampa say they've been denied storm aid
The city of Tampa is about to hand out their first round of hurricane relief funds. Some Forest Hills neighborhood residents in north Tampa said they’ve already been denied despite living in communities hit hard by the storms.

4. Fram2 shows off polar orbit mission
The first humans to orbit Earth’s polar regions showed off some impressive photos and videos of Earth’s ice caps, x-rays and more during the Fram2 mission.

5. Musk could be headed for a Washington exit after turbulent times at Trump's DOGE 
Elon Musk recently suggested that he will be done with his work in the near future. President Donald Trump told reporters this week that "at some point, he's going to be going back" to running his companies.

6. Amazon's last-minute bid for TikTok comes as U.S. ban set to take effect Saturday
Amazon has put in a bid to purchase TikTok, a Trump administration official said Wednesday, in an eleventh-hour pitch as a U.S. ban on the platform is set to go into effect Saturday.

7. Digital Dome Theatre and Saunders Planetarium now open at Tampa’s MOSI
The Museum of Science & Industry’s Digital Dome Theatre is now open, officials announced Tuesday, featuring shows and live tours of the night sky.

  • PLANT CITY EARLY VOTING | In-person voting for the 2025 Plant City Municipal Election begins Friday, April 4 and will continue Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. Voters should bring a Florida Driver License or other valid photo and signature ID with them to vote. All acceptable forms of ID are listed at VoteHillsborough.gov. Only registered voters who live in the City of Plant City are eligible to vote in this election. There will be one race on the ballot. Candidates Camryn Henry and Jason Jones are running for City Commissioner, Group 2. Early Voting takes place at Plant City's City Hall, 302 W. Reynolds Street.
  • TRAFFIC ALERT | The outside westbound lane on West Hillsborough Avenue is now closed between North Himes Avenue and North Dale Mabry Highway while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. There will be barricades and signs in the area to help reroute traffic. The work is scheduled to be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, weather permitting. The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.
  • LIGHTNING VS. SENATORS | The Tampa Bay Lightning is scheduled to play Ottawa Senators in Ottawa tomorrow night, following a 4-1 win against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
